It
has been a heady week at South Fulton's Westlake High School. On
Saturday, December 11, former student athlete Cam Newton was celebrated
for winning the most coveted award in college football - The John
Heisman Memorial trophy. The school went all out with a grand
celebration hosted by the PTSA and Fulton County District 7 Commissioner
Bill Edwards.On Friday,
December 17, in what has to be a shock to the Westlake High community
Instructional Area Superintendent Susan Dorenkamp sent out the the
following statement in an email:
The purpose of this
e-mail
is to advise you that effective immediately Dr.
Byron White, will no longer be the principal at Westlake High
School.
Please be
assured that a quality
interim leader has been selected. Mr. Andrew Tatum will serve as
the interim principal and will continue to serve in this capacity until
a decision is reached regarding the future principalship at the school.
According to that same e-mail which

here. Mr. Tatum is an experienced principal who worked at Dekalb's
Redan High School and until this appointment was working identifying new
teachers for the state largest school system in Gwinnett County.
Little detail has been released on why
Dr. White was released during the middle of the school year and at the
start of the final exam session. We wish to thank Dr. White for his
service to our community and wish him all the best. |
