The Georgia Transportation
SPLOST and South Fulton County
This is easier to start with the money. We are
paying a 1-cents sales tax for MARTA. The General Assembly and
others are giving us an option to pay another penny for more
transportation projects for the 10-County Atlanta Region through a
transportation referendum (T-SPLOST). The sales tax is designed to
pay for projects voted on by regional leaders throughout the region.
The tax should raise somewhere near $6 billion dollars over 10
years.
The South Fulton area has seven projects on
the list totaling about $135 million. By comparison the City of
Atlanta with the Beltline thrown in will take in almost $810
million. Does it make sense that South Fulton resident spend another
penny for transportation projects that are mainly benefiting Atlanta
and the Beltline that is no where near this end of town? You can
decide for yourself. As for me, I'm not interested.
Below is a list of project approved for South
Fulton. |
